2012 WINTER MEETINGS

NORFOLK, MA -- The Winter Meetings will be held this Saturday, January 7th beginning around 12:30-ish. Meeting will be held at Grant’s house.  Contact him or myself for directions.  Feel free to bring any beverage of the frosty kind of your choosing.  Also, please let me know if you plan on attending so I can plan accordingly.

The agenda is as follows:
1pm – Bruins v Canucks
4:15 – NFL Wild Card Games begin.

The League Related Activities include:
·         Draft Lottery
o   6 non-playoff teams are placed into a drawing in order to determine the order of selection in the draft.  Odds of getting the #1 pick are as follows, with owner of pick in parenthesis:
§  DC Dynasty                         29%        (Eric)
§  Yellow Stars                        24%        (Patrick)
§  Team Lewis                        19%        (Tom)
§  Chin Music                          14%        (Tom)
§  Irish Labatt                          10%        (Tom)
§  Multiple Scorgasms         5%          (Tom)
·         Division Re-alignment Draft
o   We have had the same divisions since we expanded to 12 teams in the 2005 season and this year we will shake them up by allowing the two division winners choose new divisions for the subsequent season.  This is a practice I would like to continue each year.  We can obviously tweak it going forward.  This year Veno will represent the Raw Division and Lisi will represent the Smackdown! Division.  Veno will pick first and then Lisi and they will alternate until all 10 teams are selected.
·         Rules Committee
o   We will discuss rules changes and propose any items that should be added to the offseason ballot.  If you can’t make it and want to throw your 2 cents into the ring, please send me a list of suggestions prior to SAT.

Rooters Franchise Sold To Best-Selling Author

Brighton, MA –

“I never throw a player to the wolves until I am certain that he is one of the wolves.”
                -Coach Bill Parcells

The commissioner’s office is pleased to announce the sale of the Royal Rooters franchise to Mike Lewis for the fee of 2 hockey pucks and a case of Budweiser.  Mr. Lewis has been preparing for this opportunity his entire life and is poised to take the bull by the horns and bring pride back to the once mighty Rooters franchise.

The new team name has yet to be determined, but ownership is ready to make its mark on the league immediately.  Lewis has been added to the league contact list.  Please join me in welcoming him to our little Cuckoo's Nest.

Some fun facts about Mike Lewis:
  • He is a childhood friend of Grant Casassa, Owner of Chin Music
  • He is founder and CEO of City Sports.
  • He is the best-selling author of Moneyball: The Art of Winning An Unfair Game.
  • Lewis is a connoisseur of Smooth Jazz and considers Heavy Metal to be entirely too barbaric.
  • On the ice, he has never been scored upon by either Casassa brother, a shutout streak spanning 256 minutes.
  • In addition to fathering his own child, he has lended his prolific services to both Shawn Kemp and Antonio Cromartie.
  • Lewis hand-picked Brad Pitt to star in the film version of Moneyball and resembles Brad Pitt more than Pitt himself.
  • In his younger days, Lewis served as a scout for the Cleveland Indians and was instrumental in convincing the Tribe to trade up in the draft in order to select Sizemore.
  • He is a card carrying member of both "Sal's Pals" and "Grady's Ladies."

GUILTY!

Braun in another one of his steroid-induced psychotic episodes.
Ryan Braun has been banned for 50 games for testing positive for PED's.  Many state that he should be stripped of his NL MVP and the BBWAA should re-vote to crown a new MVP.  This is a huge blow to the Milwaukee Brewers and less importantly, to the Metalheads.  Does this news taint the Metalheads championship?  Should the title be stripped from owner Joey Vignault for employing a cheating juice head?  Perhaps an asterisk would be more appropriate?  Should owner Vignault be kicked out of the league for his cheating ways?  Or maybe a suspension (ie lock his team) for the duration of the Braun suspension would be a fair penalty?  Please offer your comments below.
